Jodie’s first fun run was the 4km at the Activ Foundation City to Surf in Perth, Western Australia in 2002. She participated as part of a team from her local gym. As the wife of a FIFO worker she found working out at the gym valuable me time. Before long she was a regular fun runner and finished her first marathon a little under trained on the 19th October 2008 at Rottnest Island in 4:04:17 .   Fifteen years later she regularly runs ultra marathons distances 50km, 100km, and 24 hours on the road, trail and track.

Jodie has achieved success trail running, on the road and at ultra track events. Originally from Western Australia and now residing in Queensland she has represented Queensland at the National Half Marathon, Marathon and Mountain Running Championships and Australia in the 100km and 24 hours World Championships and Captain of the Women’s 24 Hour team that competed at the Asian Championships in Kaohsuing, Taiwan in November 2016 and will Captain the 2017 team again. She has experienced many of Australia’s iconic ultra events, has completed the Comrades Marathon, Up and Down achieving the coveted Bill Rowan Medal on both occasions and believes this is an event every ultra runner should experience at least once.

Jodie is passionate about getting more women to experience trail and ultra running and currently works as a Recreational Running Coach with UP Coaching. Jodie has a Degree in Commerce majoring in Economics and previously worked at the Department of Treasury as a Policy Advisor.

Jodie was faced with an altogether different challenge in January 2016. After discovering a lump in her left breast late in 2015 a mammogram and several tests later revealed that Jodie had Breast Cancer.   She had surgery and underwent Radiation therapy and was determined to continue to run and compete with the blessing of her surgeon and Oncologist and is working hard along with her medical team to get back to peak physical fitness in time for the 24 hour World Championships in Belfast on 1st/2nd July 2017.

Jodie was event Ambassador at the 2016 Airlie Beach Running Festival. Is a member of the Australian Ultra Runners Association, Brisbane Trail Runners, Trail Running Association Queensland, Masters Athletics Queensland, Queensland Athletics and River City Runners and holds a number of Australian Ultra Running records and Age Records and a World Age Best Performance Record for 100 miles track.
